FUCKED UP "YEAR OF THE PIG" LP |

People DO actually still post things on livejournal.com
I miss my girlfriend Jen, who is going to be in Europe for two more months... blast it all to hell. I just received a promotion, and a raise at clementine coffee.
I'm working on three music projects: 1. The Throes, a sixties rock project I'm working on with some old friends from back east. More recently, it sounds somewhere in between Reigning Sound's "Too Much Guitar" and Jay Reatard's "Blood Visions." If you haven't heard those records do yourself a favor and go pick them up today, preferably on vinyl for those with turntables.
2. Pyramids, an experimental "drone" project who aims to easily be the loudest band in Austin, which also includes a revolving cast of members. One of the projects that will be taking up where our last project ended with Big Funeral.
3. An as of yet un-named band, another project including ex-members of Big Funeral and Employer Employee, but will also include current members of Sacred Shock and Hoka Set.
We're very busy on all fronts here in the Austin camp, and of course all of these groups are projecting total financial success within the next three to five years.
I've also starting writing a book, and when I really know what it's about I'll tell you. So far it combines elements of science fiction, fiction fiction, quantum fictions, children's fictions, and non-fiction fictions . The map is not the territory, the menu is not the meal, and our models only describe our perceptions of actual events. Of course, Those ideas have all been borrowed, stolen, from greater thinkers than I.
In other news, christians still ignore most scientific evidence that doesn't support their own agendas, their own bigotry and ignorance, the foundations of their own religion, and the fact that the entire religion as it stands today is based on sexual repression and taboos. However, it is very convincing, and enticing, to believe that somewhere deep in the universe there is an alpha male that has a plan for me, watches me, and is somewhere in outer-space waiting to give me a huge wedgie. I personally feel that replacing the word "jesus" in the bible with the words "papa smurf" is a very enlightening experience.
Philip K. Dick still holds the title for the best argument for Christianity, or the best argument for his superior version of it.
"take it to the hole jesus..."
Also, Wilhelm Reich's status as an important figure in psychology is still being downplayed, and most of his theories are still not mentioned in college psychology classes. Not to mention, the "american" government definitely did not burn a lot of his books and research. Only a fascist state like Nazi Germany would do something like that, and fascist states, with help from religions, do not maintain control over large groups of people by replacing the genetic imperative with the dollar bill and moral dogma. It is also not true that fascism is basically the same thing as modern christianity under a different veil, WHOLLY with the same purpose, but it is true that religion is just a nicer way of saying it.
Other than that, I've been enjoying the new Alexandro Jodorowsky box set with digitally remastered official releases of "El Topo" and "The Holy Mountain."
cheers, mark.
